RABA offers ‘Beach Bus’ to Whiskeytown Lake

Brandy Creek

The Redding Area Bus Authority (RABA) will offer a special route from downtown Redding to Whiskeytown Lake beginning Thursday, June 23, 2016.

RABA Board members approved the seasonal runs at their meeting on Monday, as a pilot project that will continue through August 20, 2016. The “Beach Bus” service will run three times per day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It will begin at the RABA Downtown Transit Center and make stops at the town of Shasta and the Whiskeytown Visitors Center before arriving at Brandy Creek Beach. Cost will be the regular route fare of $1.50 (one way).

While the crux of the service is to provide transportation to recreational facilities for those persons who do not have access to affordable transportation services, the new service is open to anyone. The times will be coordinated to allow transfers to other routes in the RABA system.

The service will be funded in part by the National Park Service through $3,000 in grants from Dignity Health and the Redding Rancheria.
