City of Redding has received its 31st consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014.
The national award recognizes the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) as demonstrating a “constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.” The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to the GFOA.
The CAFR for the Redding Area Bus Authority (RABA) also was honored with the award for the 28th consecutive year. Both were prepared by the City’s Finance Department under the guidance of Director of Finance Dennice Maxwell who was awarded an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement for each CAFR by the GFOA.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
