On Thursday, April 30, 2015, at approximately 2014 hours, the family of Charles Keeley AKA “Buzz” Orr contacted the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office and reported Charles Orr had walked away from his home in Jones Valley and had not returned. Family members related Orr has been somewhat depressed after retiring from his longtime job. Charles Orr made vague suicidal statements in the past and had made appointments to seek counseling for possible depression. Family members stated Orr has left under similar circumstances within the last 30 days but returned each time.
On the day of Charles Orr’s disappearance, he spoke of going to the French Gulch area to pan gold. However, when Orr left the family residence, he did not take his vehicle. Orr was last seen wearing blue jeans with a blue shirt, wearing work boots and carrying a black leather backpack. Charles Orr is described as as a white male adult, 6’2″, 160 lbs, green eyes, and brown collar length hair. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office along with family members have searched areas in Jones Valley for Charles Orr which led to negative results.
Charles Orr is considered Missing at Risk due to suicidal statements and depression. Charles Orr’s family and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office are seeking any information regarding his whereabouts.
