Turtle Bay Exploration Park’s 3-year More To Explore Program was launched in Fall 2013 with First 5 Shasta’s generous support. Its goal is to “provide high quality childcare opportunities throughout Shasta County” by offering a free workshop series for early childhood care providers, expanding Turtle Bay’s Lending Library of teaching resources, and launching teacher resource webpages.
The first three sessions of the More To Explore workshop series have reached over 65 early childhood care providers, who have shown great enthusiasm over new curriculum and teaching strategies. Many have developed a new appreciation for child-centered learning experiences, and some have shared “break-through moments” with their young learners.
The final workshop of the current series will be offered on Saturday, April 18th, 9:00am – 12:30pm at the John Beaudet Community Center in Shasta Lake, CA. This session will feature examples of each care provider’s favorite hands-on learning activity to offer a collaborative learning environment to our participants.
The More To Explore free workshop series will be offered again in Fall 2015 in Burney, CA (location to be determined). Space is limited. More information describing the registration process and benefits/requirements of program participation is available at www.turtlebay.org/learn/moretoexplore.
Caregivers and educators who are interested in participating in the Fall 2015 More To Explore Workshop Series can contact Monique Gaido at (530) 242-3142.
