On Sunday (10-26-14) the Sheriff’s Office took a missing persons report involving both Darian Powner and Tristan Mitchell. They were last seen together on Saturday (10-25-14).
This afternoon, with assistance from a family friend, their vehicle was located in the creek bed, downstream from where Lack Creek Drive crosses Lack Creek.
Further downstream, below the vehicle, two decedents were located. They were recovered and brought to the Shasta County Coroner’s Office. Both bodies were positively identified as Darian Powner and Tristan Mitchell.
A cause of death is pending a post-mortem autopsy, which is scheduled for later this week. CHP is investigating the cause of the accident. At this time there is no indication of foul play.
