The Redding Police Department conducted a DUI and driver license checkpoint between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2014 on South Bonnyview at Indianwood Drive.
A total of 1538 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 623 were screened by officers. Seven drivers were given field sobriety tests and one was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Eight drivers were cited for traffic violations, including two drivers who were driving on suspended licenses and two unlicensed. Two were arrested for outstanding warrants. Four vehicles were towed, including those of the suspended drivers.
M.A.D.D. representatives from the Shasta County chapter were present to hand out information to motorists.
