On Sunday, August 17th, 2014 at 0322 hours, Deputy Gerry Maul was on patrol in Shasta County when he noticed a blue Chevrolet truck heading south on S/R 273 at Latona Rd. The truck pulled off the road in front of a locked gate at 6660 S/R 273. The vehicle was parked with its lights on. Deputy Maul contacted the driver and sole occupant of the truck, Wayne Carter Jr. The cab and bed of Carter’s truck was full of property.
There were numerous power tools and mechanic’s tools, a generator, speakers, a bicycle, gas cans, vehicle batteries, a hard drive for the surveillance system, and other miscellaneous property. Credit cards belonging to the owner of Rich’s Gutters were found on Carter along with a door key.
Rich’s Gutters located at 6830 S/R 273 was checked and found to be burglarized. Entry was made by breaking a window. Numerous pieces of property were taken from inside the building, including the hard drive for the surveillance system. It was determined the door key found on Carter belonged to Rich’s Gutters. Property was also taken from equipment in the locked yard. A patio boat had its fuel line cut and gas was siphoned.
The victim was contacted and identified the property that Carter had. The property was returned to the victim. There was between $5,000.00 and $10,000.00 of stolen/recovered and damaged property.
Carter was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on the listed charges.
