At 12:48 AM, Redding Police officers responded to the 3600 block of Scorpius Way regarding a reported stabbing incident. The initial investigation revealed the victim, David Hisawa, 60 years, of Redding, was in his wheelchair, and was walking his dog near the east end of Alta Mesa Park when he was approached by four suspects. One of the suspects was described as a dark complected male in his 20’s, 6’0” tall with a muscular build last seen wearing blue jeans and no shirt. This suspect brandished a knife and demanded Hisawa’s wallet, but Hisawa did not have his wallet in his possession at the time and told the suspect this. The suspect then stabbed Hisawa in the left shoulder and punched him in the face. Hisawa attempted to get away in his wheelchair, and the suspect punched him once more on the back of his head.
There were three other suspects with the suspect who stabbed and punched Hisawa. They are described as being White males in their 20’s, each wearing blue jeans and white shirts. The suspects fled in a southerly direction from the park.
Hisawa was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
