Tyler Christopher Schweizer

CRIME/INCIDENT: Pursuit, 2800.2 VC

LOCATION: City of Shasta Lake

SUSPECTS(S): Joshua Jeremy Stewart / Tyler Christopher Schweizer

SYNOPSIS:  On Tuesday, 7-26-2011, at approximately 2030 hours (8:30 p.m.), deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a motorcycle with two passengers for a traffic violation. The motorcycle fled from the deputy in the area of Kennett Road and Cascade Blvd. A pursuit ensued reaching speeds of 85 miles an hour on Union School Road. The motorcycle led deputies down Old Oregon Road and Bear Mountain Road before turning onto Creek Trail, which turns into Intermountain Road.

The California Highway Patrol Air Operations and ground units assisted with the pursuit. The motorcycle tried to take a dirt road off Intermountain Road and crashed. The driver, Joshua Stewart, got back onto the bike and continued to evade officers. The passenger, Tyler Schweizer, fled on foot from the crash site.

Stewart got back onto Intermountain Road but lost control of the motorcycle while traveling at a high rate of speed on the dirt portion of the road. Stewart was ejected from the motorcycle and crashed on the side of the road. The California Highway Patrol Air Unit landed near the crash site and administered medical treatment to Stewart until the ambulance could arrive.

Schweizer was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and booked on suspicion of two outstanding warrants and resisting arrest.

Stewart’s medical condition is not known. He was receiving medical treatment at the local hospital Tuesday.
