‘Get Outta Town’ and Focus on Fungi

I know I’ll regret wishing for summer, but enough is enough with the rain already. This weekend is supposed to be sunny, so it’s the perfect time to “Get Outta Town.”

This week’s “Get Outta Town” feature combines some of my favorite things: good food, wine, beer and music. So hop in the car and head to the hills – to McCloud, Siskiyou County – for the 7th Annual McCloud Mushroom, Wine and Music Faire.

The official word from the McCloud Chamber of Commerce: Mushroom vendors, wine tasting, special mushroom delicacies, cooking demonstrations, seminars and educational booths on mushroom harvesting. Games and prizes. Live musical entertainment lasts all day. Blues, acoustic and country rock bands. Live band & BBQ in the evening.

What: McCloud Mushroom, Wine and Music Faire

When: Saturday and Sunday (May 28 and 29) – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., plus after-hours music and special events

Where: Main Street, McCloud

Cost: Free

It should be sunny all over the North State, so if mushrooms, wine and music don’t strike your fancy, “Get Outta Town” anyway. There’s plenty to do this weekend in 10 neighboring north state counties:
