When: Saturday (April 16), 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at NEED Camp/Whiskeytown Environmental School
Directions: Highway 299 West. Left at the Whiskeytown Visitor Center onto J. F. Kennedy Memorial Road. Before the dam, turn left on Paige Bar Road. Parking will be available at the Shasta Mine Trail Lot or the Cemetery.
NEED Camp/Whiskeytown Environmental School will be celebrating its 40th year of operations on Saturday, April 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Open House will celebrate the school’s mission of educating youth about our natural resources, fostering social responsibility and promoting personal growth. The school is a unique regional asset and its representatives estimate that 70,000 students have passed through the school since 1971.
Saturday will provide an opportunity for families to spend quality time together while participating in several fun, as well as educational, activities, including guided nature hikes and nature chats, gold panning, nature crafts and special kids’ activities, such as face and rock painting. Shasta Wildlife will be there with some native animals and there will be a visit from Smokey Bear.
We will be having a barbecue from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm.
Music by Muletown, as well as Wild Bill and the Mudwompers.
