Charles Berlinghoff Moved to Shasta County Jail

Charles Berlinghoff, the Los Angeles man arrested in connection with the monthlong disappearance of his 15-year-old Redding niece, was booked Thursday into the Shasta County jail.

Berlinghoff, 44, was arrested Saturday in San Francisco when he and missing teen Jean Marie Berlinghoff were spotted by Jean’s cousin and her boyfriend. He was transferred to Redding four days after Jean was reunited with her family.

Berlinghoff is being held in lieu of  $1 million bail on several charges, including suspicion of child stealing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a jail spokesman said.
