Fight the Flu: It’s National Influenza Vaccination Week

It’s not too late to get your flu shot, and National Influenza Vaccination Week – which runs from today through Saturday – is the perfect time to do it.

The national awareness effort includes Family Vaccination Day (Monday), Chronic Conditions Day (Tuesday), Employee Health Day (Wednesday), Older Adults Vaccination Day (Thursday) and Young Adults Vaccination Day (Friday).  The flu is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death.

“We’re right in the heart of flu season, and we encourage everybody who’s 6 months of age and older to get their vaccine,” said Kate Thomas Pasley, Supervising Public Health Nurse.

Visit your health care provider or one of the many retail locations that offer the vaccine, including drug stores and grocery stores. Vaccine is available at Public Health’s main office on Breslauer Way and at its regional offices in downtown Redding, Anderson, Shasta Lake and Burney. Call 225-5591 or 1-800-971-1999, or visit www.shastaflushots.com.
