A Fair to Remember

Events, products and speakers of interest to women will be featured this Saturday at the Shasta County Fairgrounds in Anderson.

“All About Women” focuses on women’s health, homes and hobbies. Displays will feature massage, exercise, diet, financial planning, gardening, home decorating and much more. Admission to the event, which runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., is FREE.

The fair is sponsored by Soroptimist International of Cottonwood-Anderson, which will donate the proceeds to local charities.

  • The Redding Police Department presents its employee of the year and other awards at a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the city council chambers.
  • DVD I Watched on the Dreadmill: “Street Kings,” a recent cop drama with a decent script co-written by James Ellroy. Good cast (Forest Whitaker, Chris Evans, Jay Mohr), but the lead is played by the ever-wooden Keanu Reaves, who appears to be doing a Clint Eastwood impersonation the whole time.
  • Rules for Successful Living #47: “Close” may only count in horseshoes and hand grenades, as they say, but with hand grenades, it really, really counts.
