Los Angeles studio guitarist Carl Verheyen is returning to Redding for a Tuesday, Nov. 17 concert at Bernie’s Guitar (3086 Bechelli Lane, 223-2040).
Carl Verheyen
Redding guitar maker (and his creations are beauties, believe me) James Russell first let me know about the show. I had heard he was impressive the last time he played at Bernie’s and Bernie Baker himself confirmed that yesterday when I was in the shop. (High praise coming from a jazz player of Bernie’s stature about a mostly rock guitarist.)
Verheyen, who has toured as the lead guitarist for Supertramp, will be playing with his trio and it will be an opportunity to see some amazing chops.
You don’t know this, but you’ve heard Verheyen a bunch of times already. His playing has appear on more than 200 TV shows including every episode of “Cheers.” He’s been a featured soloist in Pixar films like “Ratatouille” and “Up,” and appeared on the soundtracks for films like “Moscow on the Hudson,” “L.A. Story,” “Dusk ‘til Dawn,” “Mr. Wrong” and the soundtrack Oscar winner “The Milagro Beanfield Wars.” He’s also worked with such artists as Cher, Dolly Parton, Shelby Lynn, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus and Leanne Rimes.
