Corner Booth: Expo? Sure!

Thousands of folks are expected to turn out on Saturday for theĀ Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce’s 40th annual Business and Health Expo.

The expo, which runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Redding Convention Center, features scores of business booths and health professionals. Product giveaways, children’s activities and health screenings are all part of the event. Admission is free.

  • The Shasta Community Foundation recently approved another round of grants to nonprofit organizations. The grants, which come from the McConnell Fund, total $331,975. Of that total, $191,775 was awarded to eight organizations through the Community Partners program. The rest went to nine organizations through the Emergency Relief and Safety Net Program. Some of the beneficiaries include the Fort Crook Historical Society, the Shasta Community Health Center, Faith Works, Golden Umbrella and People of Progress.
  • Mark your calendars for a bluegrass concert in Mount Shasta. The Travelin’ McCourys perform at 6 p.m. July 1 at the Mount Shasta Resort on Lake Siskiyou Boulevard. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show. Kids aged 16 and under get in free if accompanied by a paid adult. Tickets are available at Berryvale Grocery in Mount Shasta, Bog Bean in Redding and Music Coop in Ashland, OR. To buy tickets online, click here.
  • Bad Ad of the Day: The slogan for the new Trojan Ecstasy condom is “Feels Like Nothing’s There.” Insert (as it were) your own punchline.
