When in Alaska, a snowshoe is the right kind of symbolism to adopt.
It worked for David Traver, who this weekend won the top award at the International Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage.
The 43-year-old hometown hero worked with a stylist to braid his impressive full beard into a snowshoe shape. He won the freestyle competition and the overall prize.
Alaskans dominated the competition this year as nearly 300 men competed for prizes in 17 categories. Full story here.
- I’ve worn a beard for 30 years, but have never been tempted to grow it long. Tempted to shave sometimes, especially as my beard gets whiter and whiter, but the one time I shaved it off, more than 20 years ago now, my wife took one look and said, “Grow it back.”
- How’s this for a delightful coincidence? Next Tuesday at 6 p.m., the Redding Library hosts a rock group called Steven’s Beard for its new Musical Tuesdays @ the Library. Musical Tuesdays will be the first Tuesday of each month and will feature various types of live music on the Children’s Patio.
