Redding Municipal Utilities staff will provide an overview of proposed rate increases for water, wastewater and solid waste services at two town hall meetings Wednesday, May 13.
City residents and property owners will receive information about the increases and have the opportunity to ask questions during the meetings. The monthly rate increases would apply annually for the next three years and total 6 percent for water, 9.4 percent for wastewater, and 3 percent for solid waste for the 200910 fiscal year, beginning July 1.
Similar increases would be in effect for fiscal years 2010-11 and 2011-12.
Notices and balloting information explaining the proposed increases were mailed to some 33,000 parcel owners within the City of Redding utilities service area in March. The City Council will hold a public hearing on May 19 to consider approval of the increases.
The town hall meetings will be held in the City Council Chambers, 777 Cypress Avenue, at noon and 6 p.m.
