Corner Booth: Slither Dither

No sleep for me tonight.

I can’t stand snakes, and today’s news brings word of the largest snake fossil ever found — a South American boa that stretched 43 feet long and weighed more than 2,500 pounds. Fossilized bones of the snake, which lived around 50 million years ago, were found in a quarry in Colombia.

Scientists say a snake that large could’ve eaten an entire full-grown cow, had any cows been around back then, but it probably fed on other reptiles swimming around in a very wet, very warm climate.

The discovery reveals things about global warming, according to this story, but I can’t focus on that. All I can think of is a snake as long as a city bus. Shudder.
