I’ll start this post out by stating that Lance Armstrong had very advanced cancer, beat it, and went on to win the Tour de France seven times. This year he’s riding both the Giro de Italia and Tour de France.
Recently, Redding’s Randy Miller, the talented young drummer for the rock band The Myriad, learned that he has Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma, a very rare form of bone cancer. To read more about his condition, visit The Myriad’s Web site.
The Myriad became a national touring act through hard work and talent and last year it won the Dew Circuit Breakout Band of the Year contest on MTV2. The band has recorded at Abbey Road Studios in England.
Despite the fact that his band has toured the country and developed a very large following, Miller is in the same spot as a lot of musicians (and millions of Americans) — no health insurance. Now he’s going to need highly advanced medical care. To get the treatments he needs to stay alive, he’s going to need money.
I don’t know Randy. I’ve never met him. But today I’m writing him a check. He has a beautiful family with two children who love him. Click here to see a video of the Millers.
You can donate through The Stirring church Web site (click online giving), or by writing “Randy Miller Fund” in the memo line of a check and and sending it to:

Randy’s story is touching many. The well-known Christian rock band Third Day is performing a benefit concert for him this Sunday in Yorba Linda.
