Each year Mercy Medical Center Redding awards scholarships to local high school seniors who will be entering college in the fall and majoring in a health care related field. This program allows Mercy an opportunity to invest in the youth of our community to help make the future a healthier place. Details of the Scholarship Program follow.
Available funding:
A total of $25,000 is available to be awarded. Any graduating high school senior that is a Shasta County resident can apply for a scholarship. Due to the availability of funds and number of applications received, amounts awarded to each individual will be at the discretion of the Mercy Medical Center Redding Scholarship Committee. The number and amounts of each available award are listed here:
- Four – $2,500 scholarships available;
- Three – $2,000 scholarships available;
- Three – $1,500 scholarships available;
- Three – $1,000 scholarships available; and
- Three – $500 scholarships available.
Minimum Criteria for a Scholarship:
Scholarship applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Must be a Shasta County resident
- Graduating high school in 2016
- Declaration of a health career oriented Major
- Financial Need
- Involvement in School/Extracurricular Activities
- Involvement in Community Activities
- Applicants must be enrolled and scheduled to begin college in the Fall of 2016
Application Deadline:
Each application is due to Mercy Medical Center Redding by 4 p.m., on Thursday, May 5, 2016 (postmarks will be accepted).
