- More sad sports news: Doc Rivers, coach of the defending champion Boston Celtics, says superstar forward Kevin Garnett may miss the NBA playoffs because of a knee injury. I will now weep quietly into my beer.
- Here’s a fun event scheduled for next week: The Straight Ahead Big Band and the Sequoia Jazz Band will perform at Sequoia Middle School’s McLaughlin Auditorium at 7 p.m. next Wednesday. Tickets, at only $6 each, will benefit the middle school’s jazz band. If you haven’t heard Sequoia’s jazz group, you’ve missed out; they’re a bunch of terrific young musicians.
- Mark your calendars for the following Wednesday, April 29, when award-winning author Molly Gloss will appear at the Redding Library to promote her new book, “The Hearts of Horses.” The free event, which will include refreshments, starts at 5:30 p.m.
