On December 08, 2010 at 11:20 a.m. Redding Police were dispatched to a reported carjacking in the area of South Bonnyview Road and Eastside Road. Upon arrival, officers contacted Victim Melissa Brown, 36 years of Anderson, who reported an unknown suspect had kidnapped her and stole her car.
Victim Brown said she was driving in the 2400 block of Canyon Road at 11:20 a.m. when she slowed down for a vehicle that was stopped and blocking the roadway. The suspect entered the passenger door of her vehicle, took her cell phone and ordered her to drive. Victim Brown said the suspect told her he had a gun and would kill her. Victim Brown was driving north on Hwy. 273 when the suspect told her to turn onto South Bonnyview and stop the vehicle. The suspect took Victim Brown’s cell phone and attempted to steal her purse. Victim Brown was able to hold onto her purse, exit her vehicle, and flag down a passing motorist for help.
Victim Brown’s vehicle, a 1999 gold Pontiac Sunfire, California license 6HSU619, was last seen southbound on Eastside Road being driven by the suspect. Victim Brown described the suspect as an American Indian, approximately 40 years with long curly black hair and a moustache. The suspect was approximately 5’11”, 240 pounds, and was wearing a large tan jacket. The suspect is currently wanted for carjacking, robbery, terrorist threats, and kidnapping.
