
Friday morning, the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against 47-year-old Dustin Alan Mingarelli in connection with a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Sunday, September 27, 2026, after the Palo Cedro Rodeo, in which Mingarelli drove his vehicle at a group of people, striking and seriously injuring one adult male victim. The driver of the vehicle, identified by witnesses as Mingarelli, fled the area after hitting the victim. On Monday, September 28, 2026, Mingarelli was located and arrested in Napa County through a collaborative effort between the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, Napa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Napa Police Department. Mingarelli was hospitalized in Napa County and then taken to the Napa County Jail until he was able to be extradited back to Shasta County, at which time he was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
Mingarelli is charged with Attempted Murder, Hit and Run Driving Resulting in Injury to Another Person, and four counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Mingarelli is also charged with numerous enhancements to the charges including an enhancement for the infliction of Great Bodily Injury associated with the Attempted Murder charge and one Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge.
Friday afternoon, Mingarelli was arraigned on the charges at the Shasta County Superior Court. Mingarelli remains in custody at the Shasta County Jail on a no bail hold. He is scheduled to return to court on October 5, 2026, at 1:30 pm in Department 24 for further arraignment.
