Shasta College and Hill Country Celebrate New Dental Hygiene Partnership

Shasta College and Hill Country Community Clinic are proud to announce an expanded partnership in support of the Shasta College Dental Hygiene Program. To celebrate, an open house will be held on Monday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the Downtown Health Sciences University Center, 1400 Market Street, Suite, and will feature remarks from Shasta College Superintendent/President Dr. Frank Nigro and Hill Country CEO Jo Campbell. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the clinic facilities and enjoy light refreshments.

Through this collaboration, Shasta College Dental Hygiene students will gain real-world clinical experience while providing low-cost preventive dental services for underserved populations under the supervision of a licensed dentist. Hill Country Dental, a clinical partner since 2020, has long supported student learning through outside clinical rotations. This expanded partnership enhances hands-on training for dental hygiene students and increases access to affordable dental care in the community.

“Shasta College is always interested in creating new partnerships like this one – it’s core to our mission,” said President Nigro. “Working alongside Hill Country ensures our students will graduate fully prepared to work for healthcare providers in our region. This is all about preparing students for good-paying jobs that support our communities.”

Since its founding in 1985, Hill Country has been dedicated to serving the people of the region by expanding access to quality medical and dental care. The new partnership aligns with that vision, blending educational opportunity with community service.

“At Hill Country, we believe good health includes oral health, and we’re excited to partner with Shasta College’s Dental Hygiene Program,” said Jo Campbell, CEO of Hill Country Community Clinic. “This collaboration helps us serve patients who may not otherwise have access to dental services, while also providing valuable training opportunities for future dental professionals. Together, we are strengthening the health and wellbeing of our rural North.”
