Shasta College to Hold Grand Opening for Library, Tutoring Center

Shasta College will hold the grand opening of its newly remodeled Library and Tutoring Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 3. The ceremony begins at 9:00 a.m. with remarks coming shortly after from Superintendent/President Dr. Frank Nigro and special guests, followed by the ribbon cutting.

Beginning at 9:45 a.m., community members as well as students and staff are invited to an open house featuring self-guided tours of the facility, bingo passport cards with prize giveaways, lawn games, a virtual reality demo, and a Student Engagement Space preview. Refreshments will be provided.

The remodeled Library and Tutoring Center, along with the surrounding grounds, were funded by the $139 million Measure H general obligation bond, approved by voters in 2016 in conjunction with funding from California’s Proposition 51 statewide educational facilities improvement bond. The library offers students access to research tools, study spaces, and personalized tutoring services.

“This complete re-envisioning of one of our critical support areas on campus represents the college’s ongoing commitment to student academic success and to their engagement with the community,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Frank Nigro. “The new patios, landscaping, and interior and exterior improvements are designed to provide an inviting space for learning and collaboration that our entire community can enjoy for many years to come. None of this would have been possible without our community’s generous support.”
