Letter to the Editor: Vote NO on Measures C & D

While I’m very concerned about several Supervisor races in Shasta County; I’m most concerned about the ballot measures that Patrick Jones, Kevin Crye and Chris Kelstrom placed on the March 5 Primary ballot. Unfortunately, opposition statements did not come forth.

So here’s one persons POV and assessment of these two ballot measures:

Measure C-Term Limits-This sounds good on the surface, but, being authored by Chris Kelstrom gives me pause. I suspect more than one person urged Mr. Kelstrom to place this on the ballot. I say, let the voters decide every 4 years whether a Supervisor should be re-elected, not some mandate by 3 current Supervisors that have already cost the county, and us taxpayers, millions of dollars. Just Vote NO on C.

Measure D-General Law vs Charter Law-This is the real tipping point for Shasta County. Especially since it’s rather clear that a person from Orange Co. whispered in Kevin Crye’s ear…”Hey, let’s change the law in Shasta County and you guys can have even more power than you already have”…who’s that person, a guy named Chriss Street, a refugee from OJ Co. Remember, he was a candidate for County CEO, and then they found some real interesting no-nos during the vetting session. Not to mention Measure D is sponsored by Jones, Crye & Kelstrom; that alone is reason for a big fat NO on Measure D.
