Another star has winked out in Hollywood — the Taco Bell chihuahua has spoken its last slogan.
Gidget, the 15-year-old dog made famous in a series of commercials, has died of a stroke. Though voiced by a gravelly male in the TV ads, Gidget was actually a girl.
As the Los Angeles Times reports: “She’d lived in comfortable semiretirement since the heyday of the Taco Bell advertising campaign, occasionally making cameo appearances (hawking insurance alongside the GEICO gecko in a 2002 commercial and playing the mother of Reese Witherspoon’s Chihuahua, Bruiser, in the sequel to “Legally Blonde”).”
