Paris Cemetery Snow: Cimetière du Père-Lachaise

perelachaisesnowlede

It snowed in Paris yesterday. I’ve only seen it once or twice in my seven years here but it’s magical. And of course, like everyone else here when they see snow falling here in the City of Lights, my first thought was “I’ll grab my camera and go to a graveyard!”

No? Not YOUR first thought?

I live only a few blocks from Cimetière du Père-Lachaise, the largest and most famous of all the resting places in town. Unfortunately, it was closed (a fear that visitors would slip and hurt themselves on the cobblestone paths. A dead body in a cemetery! Quelle horreur!)

But I had taken some photos among the tombs and mausoleums during a snowfall a couple years ago (not much changes as you might guess), so I share them with you now, if only to give you an idea that Cemetery Snow can be a wonderous and beautiful thing.
