A candidates’ forum for the Redding City Council election focusing on environmental issues important to our local region will be held Monday, October 3, 2022, at 6 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 1825 East St., Redding. The forum is jointly sponsored by Shasta Environmental Alliance, Shasta Group of Sierra Club, Wintu Audubon Society, North State Climate Action, Shasta Chapter of California Native Plant Society
This forum will cover areas of concern important to our community and local environmental organizations including expanding and protecting Redding’s tree canopy, adoption of a new Redding tree ordinance, climate change, Turtle Bay, protection of riparian areas and open spaces as well as written questions of concern from the audience. The forum will be video recorded and later placed on YouTube.
The supporting organizations will not be endorsing or supporting any candidates.
The forum will follow the format of the League of Women Voters with candidates giving opening statements followed by written questions submitted by the supporting groups and the audience and read by the moderator. Each candidate will be allowed to respond to all questions submitted.
