2020 ANC Online Auction: Final Bidding -Auction Closes 7 p.m. Tonight

By now I hope you’re aware of the 2020 ANC Carr Fire Scholarship Fund online auction. I wrote about it recently, and you may have noticed the site flooded with nearly 30 posts of each auction item. (Click here for ANC Carr Fire Scholarship back story.)

After Friday, ANC will return to business as usual, but until then, our top priority is raising money for the ANC Carr Fire Scholarship Fund through this annual online auction.

I’m not going to write like one of those annoying recipes that goes on and on for 20,000 words before it gets to the recipe. I know why you’re here, so let’s get to it. I’m as excited as you are to begin. In fact, I have my eye on a few things already. (It helps that almost everything – except the jewelry – is displayed in my living room.)

First, a little housekeeping.

Below you’ll see a list of all the auction items. Each one has its own post (thank you, ANC admin assistant Barbara Rice). To bid, just click on the item that interests you, and then write your bid in the comments section.

We’ve not posted minimum bid raises, because we trust you to be reasonable.

The auction closes promptly at 7 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 9.

As with last year’s auction, we think there’s something here to appeal to just about everyone, such as one of my coffee cakes, which someone could win for as little as $20.

But, we also have some stunning, high-caliber exclusive items, too, such as this incredible pendant created by the supremely talented Janine Hall, specifically for the second annual ANC Carr Fire Scholarship auction, valued at more than $1,500.

We hope you’ll participate, and join in the fun for this great cause of granting scholarships to the selected graduating high school seniors who lost homes in the Carr Fire.

A list of the auction winners will be published on Fri. Jan. 10; which also is the date of the reception for the donors and highest bidders, which will be a lovely evening of conversation, beverages and some snacks. But mainly, the reception is a time for the bidders to pay for and receive their winning items, and for the donors and bidders to meet one another.

Of course, we know there will be those who cannot attend the Friday-night reception, such as those who live outside the area, who need their auction items mailed to them (such as last year, to ANC subscriber Karen Bennett, to whom we mailed the gorgeous and very popular Karen Field-crocheted afghan). We will make arrangements for delivery to those who cannot attend the reception.

I’m doing it, aren’t I – going on too long? Sorry.

One final thing: We’ve already received a generous donation of $500 from a longtime, very loyal and wonderful but bashful family. (Thank you!) For those who’d like to contribute to the Carr Fire Scholarship Fund but don’t wish to bid on any items, you may write a check to ANC Carr Fire Scholarship Fund, mailed c/o A News Cafe, P.O. Box 990644, Rdg., CA 96099. Click here to make a donation to the ANC Carr Fire Scholarship Fund.

Before I release you to the bidding, please join me in thanking all the generous donors who’ve made this auction possible. Thank you!

And please accept the deepest, most sincere gratitude, on behalf of myself, everyone at ANC, but most of all, those graduating high school students who lost homes in the Carr Fire, and who may receive a 2020 ANC Carr Fire Scholarship. Thank YOU for bidding, dear readers.

Best of luck! On your marks, get set, bid!

(P.S. The easiest way to see all the items and their photos is to scroll down the home page and look for the Carr Fire Auction section that contains all the donations, so you can see at a glance if new comments – bids – have been added.)
