Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA) is hosting its First Annual Environmental Champions Awards event to honor those individuals working to protect the environment in the greater Shasta County area on November 22, 6:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church Social Hall, 1825 East Street, Redding.

SEA is accepting nominations to honor people in areas such as climate change, forest or woodland protection animals, water, and air. Environmental stewardship awards will go to:

  1. A local high school student
  2. Environmentalists in the greater Shasta County area
  3. A government agency staff person whose work goes above and beyond their job description.

The deadline for nomination is by 5:00 p.m. October 25. If you want to nominate someone who deserves to be recognized, please go to our website at www.ecoshasta.org and click on “Environmental Award” on the menu to be connected to the Nomination Form or follow this link https://www.ecoshasta.org/nomination-form/. If you have any questions about the awards or  nomination form, contact Gary Lauben gary@ecoshasta.org or David Ledger at dledger@sbcglobal.net.

This awards event also will be a social mixer with refreshments.  We hope you will join us, mill around and socialize, then sit down for a ceremony when we will recognize the work of local environmentalists. The First United Methodist Church is located at 1825 East Street and the Social Hall is on the ground floor, with the entrance on South Street. Children, students and low income persons are free, a suggested $10 donation for others is requested to help defer expenses.
