The Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA) invites the public to learn about the goals and projects of this new environmental group at Redding Public Library Community Room on Monday, November 27 at 6 pm. SEA was formed in order to have a stronger, united and organized voice in speaking out for environmental protections for the upper Sacramento River watershed.
SEA will discuss its current goals, including strengthening Redding’s weak Tree Ordinance, and ways that people can become involved with this organization to protect the environment of the upper Sacramento River watershed.
This evening also features a presentation by Ryan Henson, a Senior Policy Advisor of the California Wilderness Coalition, about threats to our public lands and wilderness areas including the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Henson is a local resident and is familiar with many environmental issues in northern California. He has been an advocate for protecting our public lands for several decades.
Currently SEA is supported by 11 environmental and outdoor organizations including: California Native Plant Society, Sierra Club, Wintu Audubon, Trails and Bikeways Council of Greater Redding, California Wilderness Coalition, Horsetown Clear Creek Preserve, Streams and Greenways Alliance (SAGA), Friends of Oregon Gulch and Battle Creek Alliance among others.
