Sheriff Tom Bosenko announces Captain Eric Magrini has been promoted to the position of Undersheriff for the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. The position serves as the second in command for the Sheriff’s Office.
Magrini succeeds Sheila Ashmun who served as Undersheriff from January 2011 to July 2015.
Prior to being hired by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, Magrini worked for the Red Bluff Police Department where he was a Sergeant and had served for nine years. He earned his AA Degree in Administration of Justice at Shasta College in 1996 and will complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice this summer.
Magrini said, “I am honored to be selected for the position. I am excited to face the many challenges for law enforcement and the Sheriff’s Office.”
Eric was hired by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office in 2006 and worked in Patrol before going to the Major Crimes Unit as a Detective. He was promoted to Sergeant in February 2012 and worked in Patrol until being assigned as the Administrative Sergeant for the Sheriff’s Office. He was promoted to Lieutenant in November 2013 when he moved to the Coroner’s Office in the position of Chief Deputy Coroner. Magrini was promoted to Captain and has served as Interim Undersheriff since December 2014. Eric has also served as a Field Training Officer, SWAT Team Leader, Dive Team Member, Domestic Highway Enforcement Team Member, SAGE Team Member, and Marijuana Team Member
Eric is active in his church and with his family. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and coaching sports.
