Search and Rescue Locates Stranded Motorists

On Wednesday February 4th 2015, at 1734 hours Mitchell Jiovaniello called the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office to report he and his friend Cody Knox, were stranded on the number 4 road in the OHV Park west of Shasta Dam. Jiovaniello reported their vehicle slid off the road and became stuck. The weather was getting bad and they had no emergency equipment or supplies with them.

Patrol deputies were sent to the area to rescue the two men, but were unable to get to them due to the rugged terrain. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Search and Rescue team responded with ATV’s. They located the two men and transported them out of the OHV Park to be reunited with their family.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Search and Rescue Volunteers and deputies for responding, searching, locating and returning Jiovaniello and Knox safely to their loved ones. They lived up to the Search and Rescue motto, “That others may live.”
