Several months ago, members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office took it upon themselves to begin an “Adopt-a-Family” program. The plan was set into motion with the intention of identifying and sponsoring a less fortunate family for Christmas. Once challenged, members of the Sheriff’s Office raised nearly $2000 for the family.
Sheriff’s Office personnel, on their own time, went Christmas shopping for the family. Books, clothing, educational materials, bicycles, toys and games were among the gifts given to the family. The gifts were delivered to the family last week.
The selected family consists of a hard working single mother of 3 young children and their grandmother. The mother currently works two jobs to make ends meet, all the while caring for her children and disabled mother. The mother is planning to continue her education beginning next year.
The success of this new program was made entirely possible by the hard working and dedicated members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, who continually strive to assist the community in every way possible.
