One of Shasta County’s favorite holiday traditions returns to the historic Cascade Theatre in Redding as Jefferson Public Radio and the Cascade continue the two-week run of “A Cascade Christmas” that began Thanksgiving weekend. The revamped holiday-themed showcase of song, dance and theatre features some of the region’s finest dancers, singers and actors.
Jana Pulcini-Leard returns to the director’s chair again to lead the professional regional theatre group. In addition to A Cascade Christmas, Pulcini-Leard’s other theater production work includes “The Sound of Music” and the 2012 spring production of “Hairspray”.
Pulcini-Leard said that nearly all the numbers in this year’s production of “A Cascade Christmas” are new, and added that her personal favorites include “the Silver Bells Disco number” that features a giant Christmas tree with a 3-foot revolving mirror ball, as well as holiday version of “It’s a Small World,” where children represent all cultures of youth from around the world.
Public performances of “A Cascade Christmas” began the day after Thanksgiving.
Additional evening and selected matinée showings continue Thursday through Saturday. Additional morning performances of the show will also be held during the run for regional school field trips by special arrangement.
