Dunsmuir Autumn ART WALK will be held October 29, 2011, from 3-6pm in historic downtown Dunsmuir. Approximately 20 artists will host receptions with refreshments in local businesses and in historic buildings in this old Victorian railroad town. Some local studios will be open for viewing also. Fall colors are beginning to appear and hopefull weather should be mild. Come enjoy the views in this little town in a canyon on the Sacramento river. All ART WALK events are free of charge. Refreshments will be offered at each venue.
Local Dunsmuir artists exhibiting their work include Fred Gordon, Dick Moon, Shery Larson, Cheryl Petty, Penelope Joy, MaryAnn Kikerpill, and Tammy Cutting. The Dunsmuir Mercantile and The Flower Shop will feature art by Peter Arth and Kathy Sosa. Open Dunsmuir studios will be hosted by Candace Miller, Jayne Bruck Fryer, and Belinda Hanson. Mount Shasta artists include Wisper Krimmer, Kim Solga, Linda Vivas and Lynn Wasser. Weed and McCloud artists include Joy Price and Dorothea Schoenstein. New Castella artist Anna VanFleet will join the group as will new Weed artist Chris Winer. Ms VanFleet is from Russia and has moved to the north state with her husband, Steve.
The Dunsmuir Railroad Depot Historical Society’s Railroad Display Room as well as the first phase of the Dunsmuir Museum will be open from 3-6p.m. also. It is located at the Amtrak Depot on Sacramento Avenue. Railroad photographs and memorabilia will be available for viewing. Refreshments for all visitors and free Amtrak paper hats will be given to children.
Visitors can plan to dine in one of many fine restaurants in town and perhaps stay overnight to enjoy shopping or walking or fishing by the river the next day. Maps will be available at the Dunsmuir Chamber of Commerce and venue locations.
