Deputies Find Several Pounds of Marijuana in Felon’s Vehicle

Christopher Dale Staffin

On 10-17-11, at approximately 0830, Deputies from the Burney Division with assistance of the Marijuana Eradication Team (MET) executed a search warrant at a location on Day Rd in McArthur. The search warrant was in response to an investigation stemming from information received that Christopher Staffin, a Felon, was in possession of firearms at the property he was staying at. Firearms and numerous rounds of ammunition were located as a result of the search warrant. Staffin was not present during the search.

At approximately 2155, Staffin was located driving his vehicle in the Burney area. A vehicle stop was conducted and with the assistance of Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Chase”, Staffin was arrested for Felon in Possession of a firearm and Felon in possession of ammunition charges without incident. A subsequent search of Staffin’s vehicle revealed several pounds of processed and bulk marijuana. Items in the vehicle were also located consistent with marijuana sales. The Narcotic Offense charges will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office.

Staffin was booked into Shasta County Jail.

While this story is interesting, Sherriff's deputies don't write good reporting stories for publishing in the media and it demands a rewrite. The news is not deptuties or MET.

Staffin, the convicted felon, should have been the lead news, arrested and charged with possession of firearms and marijuna for sale.

My opinion, just another failed felon headed back to prison or now days back to fill that empty jail pod in Shasta County's John Balma Justice Center. Welcome back Staffin. They'll take real good care of you until you get out again to do it again.
