Conservation Service Seeks Input on 2012 Preservation Priorities

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in California will hold its next State Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) meeting on Sept. 7, 2011, to discuss 2012 priorities for Farm Bill conservation programs. The meeting will be held at the USDA building in Davis from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The advisory committee provides recommendations to State Conservationist Ed Burton on implementation of the conservation service’s programs in California. Those interested in conservation on private lands are welcome to attend.

“The state has a multitude of natural resource needs deserving conservation planning, technical assistance and Farm Bill funding assistance,” Burton says. “We will be seeking input on prioritizing these needs for NRCS to address in 2012.”

Since its inception in 1935, NRCS has worked in partnership with private landowners and a variety of local, state and federal conservation partners to deliver conservation based on specific, local needs.
