This fall, Redding Recreation will begin a new program specifically for adult women. The Women’s Fitness and Adventure Clubs is a group for all ages and abilities. It is a place where women can feel supported, encouraged, challenged, strengthened; all while having fun, together, outdoors, and active.
Redding Recreation offers local residents the chance to participate in a range of athletic leagues, activities, and classes as part of the pursuit of an active and enriched life. The Women’s Club was developed to allow an opportunity for women to either continue exercising or get back into shape, in a safe environment, with other like-minded women, for free.
Hiking/walking, biking, tennis, bowling, swimming, and disc golf are the scheduled activities. Additional activities and dates can be added and are in the works. The group members will direct the pace of each session as well as the growth and future of the Club. Planned dates run from Saturday, September 24th – Tuesday, December 13th.
One Saturday a month, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. is a different adventure, beginning with open water swimming at Whiskeytown Lake on September 24th.
Every Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m., starting October 4th will be a hike/walk.
Every other Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m., starting September 28th will be a bike ride.
Each activity will meet at the starting point of that day’s adventure. With the time and season change, the locations and times may change. Rain will cancel all the bike rides and all the adventures except the bowling. Walking will be rain or shine.
The Recreation website will be updated daily to reflect any changes: http://reddingrecreation.org/REC_spcevents_womensclub.html or participants can email adelong@ci.redding.ca.us or call the Recreation Office at 530-225-4095, however the website will be the best way to get updates.
Guest speakers and experts in nutrition, health, fitness, and beauty will be attending a variety of the events.
There is no registration required for the Women’s Fitness and Adventure Club. Women can come and go, pick and choose, invite friends and family, and come one, come all.
