Old Forecaster: 10-Day Midweek Weather Update, Aug. 25 – Sept. 3, 2011

This outlook is issued every Wednesday to update the Sunday weekly forecast and provide a weather outlook for the next 10 days.

The east and west coast of the U.S. will have dramatically different weather this weekend. The east coast will deal with Hurricane Irene, which could track northward right along the coast.

Meanwhile, over here on the west coast we will have mostly sunny skies, light winds, and warm temperatures. Thursday through the weekend, Redding will have high temperatures in the upper 90s to near 100. A weak low pressure trough will pass by to the north with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms near the Oregon border. Temperatures will cool to the low to mid 90s early next week, but then should warm a little starting Thursday (September 1st). Gusty north winds could occur the 1st through the 3rd, during the morning hours.
