Photographer Michael Kuker has been a Redding resident for over 30 years. Michael has been shooting digitally for nearly 10 years. His influences include Chester Mullen, Margaret Bourke-White, and Andreas Feininger. His outside interests include bicycling, local history, and old-time music.
I’ve always been fascinated by the passage of time and how photography can open a window to the past and lend insight on the present. My favorite subjects alternate between unsullied natural vistas and manmade scenes that are usually abandoned, neglected, or both. I call it “Entropic Americana.”
Michael lives in Redding with his wife and cat.
See Michael’s work through August at Carnegies, 1600 Oregon Street, Redding. Meet Michael at a reception for the artist on Saturday (August 13), 6 to 9 p.m. Click here for ArtHop maps and details, available exclusively at aNewsCafe.com.
