‘Get Outta Town’ and March to a Different Drummer

We were fortunate to have the Mt. Shasta Taiko Drummers in Redding, two years in a row, for the ArtHop anniversary in July. What a treat! I am mesmerized by them every time. I’m not just in awe of the music. I’m in awe of the athleticism, strength and agility it takes to pound on massive drums, rhythmically, for hours.

If you “Get Outta Town” this weekend to Mount Shasta, you can experience the music and energy of our home-grown Taiko performers, plus guest Taiko artists from Portland and Stanford, at the 7th Annual Shasta Yama Festival.

A bit from the Shasta Yama website: ShastaYama is Shasta Taiko’s annual summer outdoor Taiko and music festival in Mount Shasta’s Shastice Park at the base of majestic Mount Shasta. ShastaYama’s vision and goals are to present Taiko in an advantageous setting and encourage original works to further development of the art of Taiko and music.

Shasta Yama combines drumming, music, dance and poetry into a one-night extravaganza. So, get outta town, hang out in Mount Shasta, celebrate life and feel the beat of Shasta Yama.
