Weather Discussion: Well, to start with, let me apologize for last week’s outlook … I have already been told by friends and family that it sucked. I really thought the low would be pushed north and east by a building high-pressure area. Instead, it dropped straight southward and is now off the central and southern California Coast. Anyhow, here is my best shot of what the next week’s weather looks like. Remember, a daily weather discussion and outlook is available at A News Café’s weather link.

The low-pressure area will be moving across central and southern California on Monday (June 6th). Redding will start the day off cloudy with a few light showers, but by mid-afternoon the skies will begin to clear. Temperatures Monday will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Tuesday and Wednesday a high pressure ridge will be trying to build off the coast. This would bring summer weather to the north state, however, there will be another low pressure area dropping southward across eastern Oregon toward Nevada. This system will only bring a few scattered clouds to Northern California, but will keep our temperatures below normal. Redding will have sunny skies Tuesday and Wednesday but afternoon temperatures will only reach the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Finally, by Thursday and Friday the high pressure ridge will move closer to the west coast. Thursday through the weekend will be sunny with a slow warming trend. Temperatures Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Extended Weather Outlook, June 13 through June 19: The weak high-pressure ridge will continue along the west coast. This means sunny skies with daytime temperatures in the upper 80s to mid-90s.
