For Year’s End, Decadent Quiche

I gave up the whole notion of New Year’s resolutions decades ago. After years of having my best December intentions fade to dust by the end of the first week of January, I stopped making promises.

But I still feel that pre-New Year’s urge to overindulge just one last time before January’s diet, even though I won’t actually be dieting. And few meals scream going out in style louder than quiche, especially a cream-laden, bacon-suffused, cheese-strewn one.

Made without any bothersome vegetables to compromise the silky custard, my favorite quiche is a combination of Julia Child recipes, her quiche Lorraine and quiche au fromage ...
