Ed White and Larry Fuqua met in summer 2008 while Ed was moving his company, EveryDay Fitness, to the Market Street Promenade. In December Larry, a member at Total Fitness, lamented that his gym was closing its doors. Ed and Larry joined forces to expand EveryDay Fitness in the former Total Fitness Center location on Athens Avenue.
Larry, manager of human resources and operations at EveryDay, retired from FedEx as the west coast Regional Manager. He has created a team spirit in all employees, subcontractors and members of EveryDay Fitness and Training, ensuring that everyone always feels welcome and that the details that make EveryDay Fitness successful are never forgotten.
Ed has been in the fitness industry for 25 years. He began his career as a personal trainer at age 19. He has devoted his life to helping people achieve healthy lives. Before founding EveryDay Fitness, Ed had an incredible career as the Director of Rehab Services for Redding Spine Rehab, manager of Redding Fitness Center, practice administrator for Soloniuk Pain Clinic and management advisor for Chico Pain Clinic.
Ed now directs the broad goals for EveryDay Fitness, from the friendliness of the staff, to the cleanliness of the facility, to the quality of personal trainers.
When EveryDay moved from the Market Street Promenade to its new home on Athens Avenue, Ed and Larry were able to offer an array of group fitness classes, one-on-one personal training, group personal training and nutrition services. EveryDay also houses The Day Spa and Healthwise Chiropractic. Ed and Larry plan to expand the business and open a new location on the West Coast.
What sets you apart from other clubs? Brag about yourself a little.
Ed White founded EveryDay Fitness on a simple philosophy — Treat others the way you want to be treated, as if they were a guest in your home. We provide a clean facility where everyone feels comfortable and is motivated to continue reaching their fitness goals. EveryDay Fitness maintains a standard of friendly service and member amenities that makes us stand apart from the typical gym. Free towel service, free child care, free coffee, member-only events, clean facility and friendly staff — our staples. We also provide the most qualified trainers and group fitness instructors in the area. All have a passion for helping people and are devoted to giving their best to each client and every class.
What makes EveryDay a good location for 2nd Saturday ArtHop?
EveryDay Fitness is a great location for 2nd Saturday ArtHop because of the hospitality of the owners and the versatility of the fitness center. We have lots of wall space and room for people to view the art without being crowded. However, two-dimensional work is not the only kind of art we host. We had the opportunity to host The Dance Project, Country Gold Line Dancers, belly dancing, the Innerworkings band and, in March, live music and art from area youth. Our facility provides so many options between the space on the walls, the main floor and the aerobic room. We are always excited to share with ArtHoppers what we have enjoyed — the art!
What do you like most about participating in the event?
Getting to meet the new artist(s) for the month and getting to meet everyone that stops by on 2nd Saturday ArtHop. We also enjoy having our walls well decorated with a variety of local art. Never a dull moment.
March ArtHop won’t be dull at EveryDay, either. Ed, Larry and team will host art by Parsons Junior High School Students and live music by the all-sister youth band Kanybl Kaow, a benefit for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
