Buckets of Rain — UPDATE

No sooner do I post a column headlined “Buckets of Rain” than the sun emerged here in Redding for the first time in days, just to prove me wrong.

You’re welcome.

More clouds and showers will move through the area this afternoon/evening, but that morning sunshine is a preview of what we’ll see the next couple of days. Hurray.

I don’t know exactly how much rain we’ve received at our hilltop home in southwest Redding, but I do know this: Ten days ago, as a series of storms rolled in from the Pacific, Kelly set a couple of three-gallon buckets outside to catch rainwater for her houseplants. Now, those buckets are full.

More rain is expected today, though it’ll mostly be light showers. We should finally see some sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday. Another storm system is expected to arrive Friday afternoon and blow through the area before it dampens the entire weekend. Partly sunny on Sunday.

It’s been a dreary couple of weeks, weather-wise, but wait until the sun comes out and lights up those newly green hillsides. Ahh.
