Shasta Land Trust is hosting a day of river clean-up on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and we would love to have you join us. Come help clean up the Henderson Open Space and keep the Sacramento River clean!

As a non-profit conservation organization, Shasta Land Trust is always looking for ways to help protect and restore the natural beauty of our local community. This year, we have decided to join the Great Sierra River CleanUp hosted by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy in conjunction with the California Coastal Commission’s Coastal Cleanup Day. This will include thousands of volunteers on all 15 major Sierra river systems in 22 counties spanning the states of California and Nevada. For those of you who don’t know, the Henderson Open Space is located off of Hartnell Street behind the Raley’s shopping center. Few residents of Redding know the beauty that lies within this area, with tall cottonwood trees and wild grape vines decorating the canopy. So come out and show your appreciation for this area’s beautiful landscape and waters by helping keep it clean!

More information about the Shasta Land Trust River Cleanup, as well as a link to the Great Sierra River CleanUp webpage, can be found on our website here. Pre-registration is required. Please email Alicia Fitzgerald at afitzgerald@shastalandtrust.org or call the office at 530-241-7886 no later than Friday, September 18th if you are interested in helping out. We will gather in the Raley’s parking lot at 9 a.m. Please wear long pants, closed toe working/hiking shoes, and bring work gloves if you have them. We will supply water and a volunteer appreciation celebration afterwards.

The Sacramento River is one of our great treasures here in Redding, and we at Shasta Land Trust want to do our part to keep it healthy. We look forward to seeing you there!
