“We’re only limited by our own imagination.”
That is the mantra by which Greg Mann, GMS Mann Custom Jewelers’ owner, does business.
He creates custom jewelry based on the customer’s request, from the most simple to the most grandiose. And this Saturday at ArtHop, imagination will certainly soar.
GMS Mann Custom Jewelers will host an “Art Marketplace,” in which art from several local artists will be displayed.
Raette Meredith will be showcasing her signature style in which she utilizes only five colors. (You can visit her website and learn more about her art at artbyraette.com.)
“It’s a challenge because there are so many beautiful colors,” says Meredith.
“But the trick is to achieve depth through the intensity of the color, not just through the color itself.” Meredith, who also paints gorgeous landscapes, is perhaps best known for her paintings of dancers.
“I’m trying to capture the movement,” she says. “As if you could imagine, simply by looking at the painting, their next move.”
Meredith also says that dancers inspire her because she can relate to the passion they put into their craft.
“I try to put as much discipline into my art,” she says.
Recently, Meredith took part in the “30 Paintings in 30 Days,” in which she painted a series of fairies, which she says remind her of her young daughters. This Saturday, she will be one of the artists demonstrating at ArtHop; she plans on painting a fairy so that she can finish in the allotted time, and patrons can see the process from start to finish.
Mann says he became interested in ArtHop based on the stellar reputation of HawkMan Studios. Mann has been a supporter of art and wanted to support the community, as well as Enjoy Magazine. He has been one of the early participants in the event. This time, he will house the “Art Marketplace” at his business, as well as in the vacant suite next door. That way, many artist can be represented at the same time, allowing people to see and purchase many types of art.
The ArtHop “Arts Marketplace” will feature paintings by Raette Meredith, Glass by Viki Twyman, Photography by Jessica Kalashnikov and metal sculpture by Darryll Warren. For an opportunity to see four artists in one ArtHop venue on Sat., June 13, from 6-9 p.m., come by GMS Mann Custom Jewelers, 5200 Churn Creek Road, Suite N.
